Leaking Coolant

Coolant is a mixture of water and antifreeze, and its purpose is to remove heat from your engine. This liquid has the special property of absorbing heat as it passes over hot engine components. The coolant traps the heat inside itself and transports it to your radiator. In the radiator, the heat in the coolant is removed by heat exchange.

The coolant moves at high speed and under high pressure. In time, the combination of age, heat, and pressure can cause wear and tear in cooling system components. If this happens, coolant will leak out and your engine will start to overheat. Coolant leaks are usually easy to spot, as coolant is supplied in bright colors like blue and orange. We’ll examine your coolant system and fix the leak. Once the leak is repaired, we’ll refill your coolant.

Poor Compression

Your engine requires a precise mixture of air and fuel. These two substances enter the intake manifold and mix. Sensors monitor this process, and once the mix is complete, the air-fuel mixture is drawn into the engine cylinders. Once a cylinder closes, its piston rises at high speed and compresses the mixture. At the high point of compression, the spark plug ignites the mixture to produce combustion.

A closed engine cylinder should be airtight, as any additional air in a cylinder will reduce the force of compression. A lack of compression in a cylinder produces poor combustion, which wastes fuel and reduces engine performance. Air can enter a cylinder due to damaged piston heads, worn valve seals, or a hole in the cylinder. We’ll identify the cause of the problem and fix it.

Damaged Spark Plugs

We’ve seen the important role that spark plugs play in the combustion process. Each cylinder has its spark plug, and a problem with a plug can cause numerous problems in your engine. A plug can loosen in its socket over time, and this can cut off power to the plug. If a spark plug doesn’t receive power, it won’t work, and engine performance will suffer.

Plugs can also be damaged by a high fuel-to-air ratio in your engine, or they may fail due to age. Our technicians can easily test your spark plugs and replace damaged ones for you.
